QDL Safe Driving and LoCity Courses
Safe Driving (SD) and LoCity Driving courses have been approved by FORS for Silver and Gold accreditation.

QDL Safe Driving Course (SD)
QDL Training Safe Driving (SD) module. This is approved by FORS for Silver accreditation.
This course gives you an overview of vulnerable road users and includes a practical element on the road. SD has up to date information. Relevant for all professional drivers to carry out their duties safely both for themselves and others out on the road.
In the Classroom:
- Review the latest changes to the highway code
- How and why roads are changing to accommodate active travel like walking and cycling
- Who vulnerable road users are
- How they interact with traffic
- Overview on E-scooter regulations
- How to share the road safely
- Use and limitations of supplementary vehicle safety equipment and how to maintain its effectiveness
Safe Driving On the road (cycling):
- Demonstrate control of a bike
- Demonstrate where to ride on the road and the use and limitations of cycle infrastructure
- Tackle challenging roads and traffic situations
- Demonstrate how and when it is safe to pass queuing traffic
- Identify and react to hazardous road surfaces
The practical section of this course will require you to cycle in our yard under instruction from a fully qualified BSI instructor. This is to ensure you are confident and safe to continue the cycle part of the course out on the road.
QDL Instructors are first aid certified.

LoCity Driving is a FORS approved course (for Gold accreditation). Focusing on minimising the environmental impact of vans and LGVs by reducing emissions through the use of effective routing
and vehicle checks, fuel-efficient driving, and alternative fuels.
A seven-hour CPC accredited course, aimed at drivers and transport managers. Giving attendees the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to cut costs and minimise the environmental impact of fleet operations.
The course will cover the following topics:
- Fuel Efficiency and air quality
- The relationship between driving style, fuel consumption and environmental impact
- How regular maintenance and vehicle checks can cut costs and emissions
- Fuel efficient driving techniques
- Journey Planning and vehicle checks
- Journey planning exercise
- Value of vehicle design and technology
- Use of in-vehicle technology to improve fuel economy
- Monitoring and managing driver performance
- Benefits of journey planning Alternative fuels in commercial vehicles
